This was when I really got into horses and racing. Through my father, and Snowy Buckingham, I met Tommy Gosling, who took me on as a Jockey's apprentice in Epsom. It was very hard work with long hours. In 1973, Mr. Sirret gave me my first professional ride on a horse called Chateau D', and I raced against the great Lester Piggott. That was the proudest moment of my life. I only had three professional rides and got injured.
